About the Practice:
Pilates is an innovative whole-body system of exercises designed to balance one’s muscles and create a flexible, strong body. The exercises focus on the core muscles which support good posture, and bring ease and power to walking, lifting, and sports activities. It stretches and strengthens the body without building bulk. Pilates is especially helpful in relieving back pain. A body with balanced strength and flexibility is less likely to be injured.
About the Instructor, Justin Grinius:
In 2000 I was pursuing a successful advertising career in San Francisco. Committed to my work, I would spend prolonged periods of time sitting at my desk. The 10-hour days with poor posture began to take their toll and I noticed I was experiencing lower back pain. Before long the pain had developed from a nagging ache to becoming excruciating and preventing me from carrying out normal daily activities. In my quest for answers and healing, I discovered Pilates and on a trip to Europe, the Redcord system. This was a perfect compliment to my workout routine that helped me heal from my repetitive stress injury due to prolonged sitting and get strong and healthy again.
In 2011 I was so inspired that I made the difficult decision to leave my successful career in advertising and to form rebalanced SF. As a certified Pilates instructor as well as the first and only Northern California certified Redcord Active Specialist, I offer unrivaled knowledge and experience in Redcord and Pilates personal and small group training. I am one of only 20 trainers in the U.S. to carry the distinction of Redcord Active Pro Specialist.
